With this year being an El Nino year, rain seemed to dominate the weekend's weather forecast with as much as 70% chance of rain at some point during the day.
Regardless, we planned to attend this weekend's fun. Jason was scheduled to work (at his real job) in the morning, which left me to play. Jon Lugod put together a really nice course, using elements from past National events, but sized to fit our location. Quite interesting.
The forecast was originally rain in the morning and lasting throughout the day, but on Saturday morning, it looked like the forecast was for rain starting around midday and the morning would be dry.
I did all my runs in the morning and Jason took over the drivers seat in the afternoon. Since I was free, I had a chance to ride with others and instruct a little bit. I rode in Jon's civic with the Toyo's on. It is amazing how much grip the Toyo's have - they seem to have more grip than the Bridgestone RE-11's. The downside is that they seem to wear out faster here and need to be kept cool while the Bridgestones are very consistent in every aspect.
It was a fun day with the Bridgestone's besting the Toyo's by 2/100's of a second. The car feels good - though one of the turns was causing the Civic to blow smoke (a few Civic's were making smoke in this same turn).
The overnight forecast for the champ event should prove to be interesting. ST is scheduled to run 1st...
