March Champ Event - Dry - sorta

I arrive at the event and start putting everything away under the tarp - just in case it rained. Jason wasn't attending this event and I had to make sure that everything was ready and that there would be no surprises.

It had rained overnight, but it didn't look like it was going to rain this morning. The forecast was for more rain later in the day. However, the ground in the morning was cold and wet.

As the time neared for the event to begin, the ground was drying, but still wet. We line up in grid and to my surprise, almost every Civic (except me) was in the two driver lane. We also have a guest driver in an ST Civic - Will Kalman. Should be a fun day. Will is always fast.

The Civic is feeling good and the competition is heating up. I can't wait for the San Diego Tour and ProSolo, both of which are coming up in April.

We all go out and make slip-slidy first runs and the course begins to dry out. My second run is almost 9/10ths faster than my first run. Hm, not a good sign for me. The 2nd drivers will be driving on a course that will be quite a bit dryer than anything I can get. It is what it is and I try to make the most of it.

My last run is another 6/10th's faster than my 2nd run. I make the most of what I have and it leaves me in 3rd place. Now I have to wait and see if anybody else running after me will go any faster.

By the end of the heat, the results show that I have held on to 3rd place. What's even more interesting is that even with the drying conditions, I've managed to pax in the top 10. Cool.

We missed you today Jason! Wish you were here. This was a course you would have enjoyed.
