Bridgestone Portenza RE-11 Review Part 1 ~ Tire Wear

So the RE-11 has now been released and there has been lots of buzz about its arrival we are very excited to report our findings here. We will be covering it in separate parts to be able to present data in an organized fashion and also as an archive for people to utilize when trying to choose their future tire.

Our first highlight will be of tire wear, here is the data.

Overall our experience with both the 205 and 195 have been very good. Definitely better then the re01-R's but we shall add more on that later

I will deal with the issues of wear in this post.

Lets start with some car data.

1989 Allstar ST Civic

Drivers: Stephen Yeoh and Jason Flores

Weight = 2005lbs

Front Camber = 3.2* Rear Camber = 2.5* ZERO ~ Toe front and back

Pressures used: same as re01r pressures 34F / 31R

Here are our 195 RE-11 with 49 runs on them with them mostly on an abrasive asphalt surface with majority of the courses being 40 sec and some being as long as 70sec. Tires started at 5/32 and after 50ish runs they are 4/32-3/32 tread depth and still feeling great!!!

Here are our 205 RE-11 with 20 runs on them from just the past weekend again on an abrasive asphalt surface with the course being between 85-90 seconds over 2 days. Tires also started at 5/32 and are still looking at 5/32 or just a bit less.
