This past Sunday was a disappointing one. We were kept pretty busy getting the kids ready for their event. The weather at El Toro was great as usual though turnout seemed to be lower than normal.
Jason had a family obligation and Mike K brought the car to play. We ended up not being too focused and should have stayed home for the first two runs. Mike struggled through one particular turn, spinning at the same spot on two of his runs.
My first run was a Sunday cruise through the course, looking at elements way over somewhere and thinking, hm, I should be over there instead of being here. It happened through the entire run. It was the kind of run to stay home in bed for. My second run was only a little better. Still not able to focus.
OK, down to the last run. The run group is smaller. There doesn't seem to be as much time to regroup - or maybe I'm moving in slow motion. I do my best and start out on my last run. It's better than the other runs and it's clean, but it's not a good run. I'm missing my apexes and just plain going too slow. At this point, it is what it is.
At the end of the run, the announcer says that I'm in 2nd place - wow. I'm a second behind Jeff who appears to have had an amazing day, but somehow I managed to move into 2nd place.
Cool, it was a rough day, but the result turned out ok overall. Good job Jeff!
