Thanksgiving Practice

I hope that everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you were able to travel safely, without too many delays.

As has become the unofficial tradition for us, we play right after Thanksgiving. This year is no different.

The wonderful folks at PTSC shaved another set of Bridgestone RE-11's and sent them out to us in time to have them ready to be scrubbed in for tomorrow's event. (Thank you PTSC)

The first few runs were slick and the tail felt like it had a mind of it's own at times. After that, the tires settled in and were awesome.

We had a group of South Coast Performance folks show up and we spent some time showing them the ropes and taking them for rides in the wonder car (I'm referring to the Civic of course).

In between that, we had fun trying to hunt down C5 Z06's on the practice course - that was designed for cars with power. Straight sections that let you accelerate flat and go from 2nd into 3rd. It was a fast yet difficult course.

We (Jason, Jon and I) were running in the 61's in the early morning and by the end of the morning session, the fast time was a 60.8. The Vettes were running between 58.xx up through 64.xx (street and race tires). We felt that there was a 59 second run in the car, but we had passengers every run.

By the end of my afternoon session, I had managed to drop down to a 60.1 with a passenger and fuel cut in two turns. There's definitely a 59 second run out there!

I finish the day working as the announcer and see Jon pull up in the Bridgestone/Allstar Civic alone. Time to sit up and pay attention. This could be the 59 second run we have been looking for. Sure enough, Jon goes out and runs a 59.9. The Bridgestone/Allstars Civic is the only Civic running a 59. Woohoo. Definitely partly the driver, partly the wonderful setup that Json and Jon have worked out and of course the Bridgestone tires. I must say it was fun being the announcer and picking on folks. Let's see if they allow me back in the announcer booth again.

It also looks like our car will be in the San Diego autoshow again at the end of this year. Stop by and check out our car and sponsors.
