The first season is over!!

It's been a while since the blog has been updated, so it's long overdue.

November was an eventful month. We won both events in November, giving us a very remote chance of winning the year end championship.

We also went to a Porsche Club autocross and the Civic wasn't running right, showing a check engine light. Since we had a check engine light at a prior Porsche event and subsequently blew up the engine, we were conservative here and decided not to run the Civic. Our student for the day - William Nee - was kind enough to offer both Jason and I a drive in his beautiful 2007 GT3 on street tires. That was an absolute treat and would rate as one of the most fun cars I've driven.

The problem with the Civic turned out to be the distributor, which was replaced and we had the same problem when Jason had the car at a practice event. The replacement distributor had a bad ignitor.

Saturday, Dec 8 was a fun day with a championship sponsored by Subaru of America (obviously meant for Subarus). There was competition in many classes based on the SCCA classing. Instead of running the Civic, we ran Jason's very fun and very well set up RS. Unfortunately, nobody else showed up to play in STS, so it was just Jason and I. I wonder if they chickened out because of the threat of rain - I hope not, Subarus are AWD! Maybe it's the fear of being beaten by both of us - I think that's more likely ;-) For you Subie folks, you should have come. There were nice goodies being given away, including Ken Block autographed shirts. It was very neat watching Ken Block's Gymkhana car drifting around the course and drifting into a tight finish, but staying perfectly within the cones.

The last event for the year in December just passed today and the ignition is working fine, but Moe found another problem. The bushings on the front sway bar had gone bad, so they ended up being replaced also. Moe is THE man!

Jason ended up with an incredible run to close out the season by beating Steve Ekstrand and finishing 4th in class. Jason also indexed 22nd out of 147 drivers, putting him in the top 15%. Not too shabby given that he hasn't been racing very long at all.

They announced the year end results and Jason finished 4th and I finished 3rd. Not too shabby given that the car was still in development until around the May/June timeframe.

Fantastic first season in STS. The work and development you guys put in was just inspiring.

Great last lap there Jason! Way to finish off the season.

See ya' in 2008 I hope! I'd say Stephen is the guy to beat. That Ekstrand guy was pretty ragged coming home under pressure. :)

Nice going Yeohbaby and Dr. J!

The work and development you guys accomplished this year was phenomenal. So, much easier to just buy a car like I did. :)

Fantastic last run Jason. Way to close out a season.

I hope to battle hard with you guys all year in 2008. I'll have to step it up for sure to stay competitive. The last two events in '07 was looking a little ragged for the Metrosexual Blue wonder and its pilot.

Stephen looks like the guy to beat in 2008!

Happy New Year to you guys and your families!
