SCNAX Cup VI

I had a great time at the last SCNAX Cup, so I've been waiting for this event all year. However, race weekend came around and there were only two teams entered. Ours and Lugnuts, who were the winners from last year.

Art put a great course together. Tricky and slow in places and fast in other places. Even after making 24 runs, I feel that I have still left time out there - even in the Civic.

I learned the hard way that an S2000 on street tires is a handful. It's way more driveable on R comps. I think there was still more time left in this car at the end of the day. I also learned that in the SCNAX Cup, it's the average of your 3 best runs in each car, so unlike a traditional autocross where you just need one good banzai run, consistency will also factor into your end result.

Next up was my turn to drive the Civic. What a riot. With the Bridgestones, the car is totally different from the Azenis - in a good way. I love the way the car behaves now. I thought the car was oversteering and that I had to counter steer in the turns to keep going in the right direction. However, after reviewing the videos, it turns out that the correction was minimal.

Sunday brought more fun. Next up was Leonard's Miata. A stock Miata with no LSD. The car feels so different that I just didn't feel like I was getting close to what the car was able to do. I guess I shouldn't wait a year to drive a Miata again.

Last up was Jason's Subaru 2.5RS. Wow, what a nice car. It rotates so nicely in the turns and ended up being only 0.6 seconds slower than the Civic. Next to the Civic, I think this was the easiest car to drive fast.

Anyhow, by the end of the weekend, the final results showed that we finished 2nd and team Lugnuts finished next to last :) The big surprise for me was taking the top pax result for the weekend. However, when you factor in the drivers pax that this event also uses, I finished DFL. Oh well...

Still a fun weekend. Until next year.
