It's a warm day and the course is challenging. The line choices are different this time and the approach is adjusted to accommodate the differences. There are some slow turns that you just can't get around and have to slow down in order to make the turn.
My first run gives me a dirty 60.4 and I never match this time again. In the mean time, Ken is able to get a clean 60.7 to win the class and Jon finishes 2nd with a 60.8, followed by me with a 60.9. The gap separating each of us from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd is somewhere in the region of 8/100ths of a second. Nice close racing.
With Nationals approaching, I'm looking for as much seat time as possible and end up staying to take X-runs also. On my very first run, I go out and run a 59.8. I like this. I'm getting used to the car. My subsequent runs were in the 60.2 range and everything was faster than the timed runs.
I'm feeling good and even though I didn't win today, my objective for the day has been accomplished. One last event next week with the Porsche club and then the car is off to Lincoln.
If the surface at Lincoln is similar to El Toro, the Bridgestone RE-11's should do well.
