I roll into todays event with an ankle that I rolled badly on Tuesday night, so I'm on crutches and bruises all over my right foot, walking per doctors orders with a crutch. I don't think I've ever walked course so slowly before.
This is a good course. Not heavily transitional, but it has elements of speed, slow parts and key points where the only way to carry speed is to be right on the key apexes.
I'm slow right out of the gate and running a second behind Jason. Then I hit a cone on my 2nd run. I start out with a cone early on my 3rd run, so i decide to try stuff and end up with something like 6 cones. The car wasn't turning in, which didn't help. We learned today that full tread Bridgestones heat up and need to be kept cool. They were watered down well before I took my last run and there were no problems turning in like the prior run though there was definitely some understeer in the turnarounds.
The run didn't feel fast as I had missed some key apexes and got a little loose in the slaloms, so I was pleasantly surprised when I was almost a full second faster than my previous best run and just 0.16 seconds behind Ken to finish the event in 2nd place.
